Getting Married
St Mark's is a beautiful church for a wedding!
If you are interested in getting married in St Mark's, please
speak with the Vicar, Fr Philip. You are asked to attend our 9.30am
Sunday Mass, after which you can meet with him over morning tea. We
do not make arrangements via the internet or telephone. You may
phone Fr Philip to indicate your interest - particularly if you have
set a date for your wedding.
We have prepared a booklet about getting married in St Mark's,
which will be given to anyone enquiring. This sets out all the
information you need: cost, music, flowers, preparation, legal
requirements. The booklet (in Word format) can be downloaded from
the link on the right under "Related resources". We strongly
recommend that you read this before you make your first enquiry.
Some of the important things to note are:
- The Vicar, Fr Philip, celebrates all weddings in St Mark's.
- Our organist is the only one allowed to play the organ.
Taped music is forbidden! We can provide soloists to sing.
- Couples are required to meet with Fr Philip regularly. This
is so he can get to know you, and you him. It is very important
to us that you feel comfortable with our priest - it makes a big
difference for your wedding.
- Couples are also encouraged to attend a pre-marriage course,
as recommended by the Federal Government. We suggest the
Anglican marriage courses, and Fr Philip will provide details.
- IMPORTANT: Couples are asked to attend Sunday Mass
regularly. This helps you to get the feel of the church, and
feel comfortable in it. It also gives you the Christian
dimension to life - which is part of a marriage in St Mark's.
The congregation will be delighted to meet you - and we hope
that you will feel part of St Mark's long before your wedding
- A rehearsal will be held for the wedding the night before.
This is only for the bridal party!
